Snowmass Village: the 29th Golden Leaf Marathon

ASPEN — The Golden Leaf Half Marathon — a scenic race traversing the mountains between Snowmass and Aspen — returns for its 29th year on Saturday. The event is part of the Vasque and Gore Tex North American Trail Tour. The 13.3-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. from the Snowmass Village.

Participants can register online at www.active.com before 2 p.m. Friday or at the Ute Mountaineer before 5 p.m. Friday for the $35 pre-registration rate. Race-day registration between 7-8 a.m. at the ticket pavilion on the Snowmass Village Mall costs $50.

Cost includes refreshments, raffle tickets, awards, and a T-shirt for the first 400 registered runners.Race packet pick-up is through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Ute Mountaineer.
Timing chips are mandatory. Pick-up will be from 7-8 a.m. at the race start on race day. Lost chips will incur a charge of $50. All participants must obtain a timing chip or they will not receive a finish time.

Bus service leaves Rubey Park (three blocks from finish) in Aspen for Snowmass Village at 6:45 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. A gear shuttle will also be available at the start of the race and will transport gear bags to the finish line.The course traverses the mountains of Snowmass and Aspen and offers panoramic mountain views.
